Maggiano’s + Make-A-Wish

About the “Eat-A-Dish for Make-A-Wish” campaign:
  • Since 2003, Maggiano’s and Make-A-Wish have teamed up to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions through the annual “Eat-A-Dish for Make-A-Wish” campaign.
  • During this annual spring campaign, Maggiano’s restaurants nationwide feature a number of delicious giving opportunities designed to raise enough funds to grant at least two life-changing wishes per restaurant. Guests can contribute by: ordering a food or beverage item off the “Eat-A-Dish for Make-A-Wish” menu; purchasing a decorative star-shaped card for an amount of their choosing and displaying it in the restaurant with their name; and more.
  • In addition, each restaurant hosts “wish enhancement dinners” for local Make-A-Wish children and their families, such as send-off parties before a wish is granted or welcome-home parties after a wish comes true. Many restaurants also host public events ranging from dinner theatre productions to food and wine tastings to benefit local Make-A-Wish chapters.
  • To date, Maggiano’s guests and team members have contributed more than $7 million and granted more than 900 wishes throughout the “Eat-A-Dish for Make-A-Wish” campaign.
  • During the year, Maggiano’s continually supports Make-A-Wish by organizing special events to honor wish children and donating $1 from the sale of seasonal feature desserts.
About the Make-A-Wish Foundation:
  • Make-A-Wish was founded in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer. Now, the organization grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
  • With the help of generous donors and more than 27,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish somewhere in the country every 37 minutes. It has granted more than 254,000 wishes since its inception in 1980; more than 14,200 in 2014 alone.
  • According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.
  • Make-A-Wish is one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States, its territories and in nearly 50 countries on five continents.
