Background: Brinker International traces its original roots to 1975, when Chili’s Grill & Bar first opened in Dallas. In 1984, after growing to 28 restaurants primarily in the Southwest, Chili’s Inc. attracted the attention of restaurant industry icon Norman Brinker, who bought the company and took it public that year.
To reflect the growing multi-brand portfolio, the company changed its name to Brinker International in 1991. In 1995, Maggiano’s Little Italy joined the Brinker family.
